I bought this for my father, and he's absolutely delighted with it. It's a heavy, solidly constructed, and good quality fender. The depth was slightly too much for my dad's fireplace, but we were able to cut the fender very neatly and with no spalling or damage to the finish using a mitre saw with an appropriate blade. The steel sheet it's made from is fairly thick, so while you could certainly cut it with a hacksaw, it would be a bit of effort. Other than cutting the depth to size, it's simple to install.
In use, the weight prevents movement on the slate base, and it easily holds back any ash or falling chunks of wood or coal. Overall, my Dad's happy, so I'm happy. (Posted on 25/04/2022)
