For safe use:

- ALWAYS use heat resistant gloves to handle.

- DO NOT place in an enclosed space or enclosed BBQ (leave the lid open). Ensure the chimney starter has at least 10'' of free air space in all directions. 

- DO NOT place the chimney starter next to any heat conducting or flammable material. Placing on a grill style BBQ grate is acceptable.

- KEEP OUT OF REACH of children or pets.

Ash logs are widely regarded as the best wood for burning. Being a hardwood ash logs by nature burn longer than softer woods but also give out a high heat output with an excellent flame pattern.

These specific logs are kiln dried which is not comparable to anything non-kiln dried. Kiln-dried woods give out much more heat as the lower water content means energy is spent on heating the room rather than evaporating the excess water content.

Restaurant grade charcoal is made from the very best premium restaurant-grade pieces of charcoal, perfect for restaurants or very long BBQ’s. This mixture of charcoal burns for an extended time giving a longer-lasting flame which burns hotter and is more efficient than many supermarket brands.

Charcoals come in a mixture of grades, the best being restaurant-grade followed by catering grade then BBQ grade being the lowest quality. The higher-grade charcoals have a lower water content so spit less, produce less smoke, and come in bigger pieces which results in a more consistent temperature. Generally, good quality charcoal is sold in bags 12kg and upwards and is usually in a blue bag. Unless you are having a very short BBQ it is usually more cost-efficient to buy the higher grade charcoal as it burns longer so you get more out of each piece.

There are less obvious physical differences between BBQ charcoal and more restaurant grade charcoal. Low-grade BBQ charcoal often has chemical additives. These additives make the charcoal easier to light but sacrifice the final result being the quality of the food, often making it have a slight chemical taste.

This particular charcoal comes from the Wattle Eucalyptus tree in South Africa from a well managed sustainable forest.
